- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 2 large tart apples, peeled & sliced
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 9 slices day old French bread slices (3/4 in thick)
Syrup:
- 1 cup applesauce
- 10 ounces apple jelly
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon cloves
DIRECTIONS
Cook in sauce pan the brown sugar, butter & corn syrup until thick (5-7 minutes). Pour into ungreased 9×13 inch pan. Arrange apples on top. In separate bowl, mix eggs, milk and vanilla. Dip bread slices in egg mixture, soaking each one for a full minute. Arrange bread over applies. Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes.
SYRUP: Combine applesauce, apple jelly, cinnamon, and cloves in a saucepan and stir until hot. Enjoy!
