Dump the pie filling in a spread it out evenly. In a bowl combine the sugar, flour, oatmeal, pecans and stir to mix. Add the vanilla and gently stir. Chop the butter into tiny pieces, add it to the bowl and work it into the topping until mixed and crumbly.
